Petition: Drop Charges in "You're Being Robbed" Case

Change.org petition asks prosecutors to drop all charges against "Nature Dave" Gorczynski.

A little over a week ago, Easton police arrested 22-year-old Occupy Easton member Dave Gorczynski after he allegedly brought two signs -- one of which said "You're Being Robbed" -- into two city banks.

Gorczynski -- also known as "Nature Dave" -- his supporters and his attorneys all say the signs were meant as a form of protest, the message being "You're being robbed by this bank," rather than "I'm here to rob this bank."

Eventually, Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli decided Gorczynski wasn't at either bank to rob it, and against him.

He said that the other charges -- two counts each of terroristic threats and disorderly conduct -- would still stand, saying that whatever his intentions, Gorczynski had essentially caused terror -- among bank customers/workers -- and disorder.

Late last week, a group began circulating a petition to have all the charges dropped, and was -- as of this writing -- on its way to 500 signatures.

What do you think? Would you want the charges against Gorczynski dropped, or does carrying a "You're being robbed" sign in a bank cross a line? Tell us in the comments, and take our poll.
