NY Man Admits to West Ward Shooting

Richard Garica faces 4-10 years in state prison for shooting last summer in Easton.

A Bronx man has admitted to shooting another man last summer in Easton's West Ward, according to published reports.

Richard Garica, 20, pleaded guilty Friday in Northampton County Court to aggravated assault in the shooting of Elizaul Trujillo on July 25, 2013.

According to the Morning Call, the plea means Garcia is facing four to 10 years in state prison.

According to police, Garcia shot Eliza Trujillo early on the morning of July 25 on the 700 block of Ferry Street.

Trujillo was shot multiple times, but had recovered enough to identify Garcia from a photo line-up, police said.

He had initially been charged with giving false identification to police for allegedly telling investigators his name was "Michael Garcia" and that he was 19.

The Express-Times says Judge Michael Koury made Garcia eligible to serve his time in a boot camp for young offenders.
