Meth Cook Who Sent Recipes to Police Heading to Prison

Michael Williams 'is no Pablo Escobar' but is still due to spend 6-21 years in jail, judge says.

An Easton meth cook who sent recipes for the drug to city police could spend the next two decades in prison, according to published reports.

Michael Williams was sentenced Friday in Northampton County Court to six to 21 years in state prison.

According to the Express-Times, Judge Stephen Baratta acknowledged that Williams was a small-time meth maker, but said he was bound by the seriousness of the crime and Williams' record.

"He's no Pablo Escobar, I get that," the judge said.

Williams, 52, was charged in January following a raid at a home on the 1400 block of Pine Street.

He maintained his innocence after the arrest, while also writing letters to Easton police Inspector Salvatore Crisafulli saying that the way police described Williams' meth recipe was inaccurate. He offered them a better recipe, and his expertise on other local meth cases.

The Morning Call says Williams said "Oh my God," when the sentence was handed down.

"That's what happens when you cook meth," the judge replied.
