McGlinchey Admits to Christmas Eve Murder in Easton

John C. McGlinchey avoids possible death sentence by pleading guilty to shooting Kimiko Moon last Christmas Eve in Easton.

A Bucks County man has pleaded guilty to a fatal Christmas Eve shooting in Easton last year.

According to WFMZ, John C. McGlinchey III, 47, admitted Friday in Northampton County Court to shooting Kimiko Moon in her family's South Side home. By entering the plea, McGlinchey avoids a possible death sentence.

Under state law, he'll receive an automatic sentence of life in prison.

The Express-Times says McGlinchey claimed he was blacked out and on drugs at the time of the shooting, and apologized to the Moon family in court Friday. Moon's father called McGlinchey a "coward."

, McGlinchey walked into the Moon home in Easton's Highlands development and shot her in the head.

Moon, 43, died of her wounds 10 days later. as well, shot as he decorated the family's Christmas Tree.

In exchange for Friday's plea, prosecutors also charges in connection to the shooting of the nephew, as well as McGlinchey's attempted escape from county prison, the Express-Times said.

In May, according to prosecutors, , using a heavy-duty pair of gloves and some make-shift shinguards fashioned from phone books. He was caught as soon as he fell over the other side of the fence.
