Man's Body Found in Lehigh River is Identified

The body of a 25-year-old Easton man was found Saturday morning, according to a published report. The investigation continues.

A man's body was found Saturday morning in the Lehigh River near Larry Holmes Drive in Easton by a fisherman, Easton Fire Department Capt. Kevin Arnold said.

The body was spotted about 7:30 a.m. in the water, and the fisherman called 911, Arnold said.

Lehighvalleylive.com reported that the Northampton County Coroner's office identified the body as that of 25-year-old Joshua Pereira of Easton. His cause of death is pending.

The fire department had been dispatched first to the scene, and the coroner and police then were called. Firefighters recovered the body.

Easton police and the Northampton County Coroner's office are continuing their  investigation. Police said in a release that the body was found near the boat launch and that the public does not appear to be in any danger.
