Man Steals $4,000 in Coins, Police Say

Palmer Township man accused of burglarizing Wilson home.

Wilson police say a Palmer Township man stole $4,000 in coins and $2,000 worth of jewelry from a borough home Sunday morning.

Eric Youngkin, 42, is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, receiving stolen property and theft, all felonies, as well as possession of an instrument of crime and criminal mischief.

According to police, the investigation began when a resident called to report witnessing a man breaking into a home on the 2400 block of Birch Street and leaving with two buckets.

Police say the caller was able to give a description of the burglar. Wilson police, working with the counterparts from Palmer Township, were able to identify the burglar as Youngkin.

Police say the homeowner reported finding his wife's jewelry missing, as well as two five-gallon buckets containing the coins.

The jewelry was found with Youngkin, police said, with the coins located in a nearby alley.

Youngkin was arraigned before on-duty District Judge David Tidd of Lower Saucon and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
