Man Shot in Easton's West Ward

Police say victim shot in head just after midnight Sunday.

A man was shot in the head in Easton's West Ward just after midnight on New Year's Day, according to news reports.

City police say the victim, a 22-year-old Easton man, was found in the street near 10th and Elm streets at around 12:03 a.m., the Morning Call reports.

According to the Express-Times, the man was hospitalized, and was in critical condition. Police told the newspaper they do not believe the shooting was the result of celebratory New Year's Eve gunfire.

Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to contact Det. Christopher Miller at 610-250-6656.

This was the in the West Ward in the last few weeks. On Dec. 16, a man was shot near the Brickhouse Tavern in the 1400 block of Washington Street. Three days later, another man was shot multiple times at 13th and Washington Streets.
