Man Cleared in Easton Drug Case

Attorney says Danny Manning 'in the wrong place at the wrong time' during a West Ward drug raid.

In March, Easton police arrested four men following a drug raid in the West Ward.

But charges against one of those men were dismissed Wednesday after a judge found there was no evidence against 25-year-old Danny Manning.

Jeff Henninger, Manning's lawyer, said it was a case of his client being in "the wrong place at the wrong time" during a raid on March 15 at 218 N. 8th St.

Police say investigators found $1,700 of heroin and more than $6,000 in cash in the house. Also uncovered were heroin packaging, distribution and manufacturing materials, Bloods gang paraphernalia and a .38-caliber handgun with its serial number obliterated, police said.

But Henninger said his client had no connection to what was happening there.

"My client was not a gang member or anything," Henninger said in an e-mail. "He was just staying at this person's house for a short period of time.  He had nothing to do with drugs or anything."

Three other men were arrested:

  • Anthony Thomas, 24, and a "confirmed Bloods member," is charged with possession of heroin with the intent to deliver, criminal conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police also had an existing warrant for Thomas for alleged delivery of heroin. Drug charges against him were held over for county court, while a weapons charge was withdrawn, according to court records.
  • Andrey Deloach, 22, is charged with possession of heroin with the intent to deliver, criminal conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges against him were held over for county court Wednesday, according to court records.
  • Nicholas Alleyne, 22, is charged with possession of heroin with the intent to deliver, criminal conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia. It was not immediately clear if his charges were held for court.
