Man Charged in Wilson Cocaine Case

Michael William King accused of taking money meant for an undercover drug buy.

State agents have charged a man from Wilson with taking money meant for an undercover drug investigation in the borough.

Court records say a confidential agent gave the suspect, Michael William King, $175 inside the agent’s vehicle with the understanding that King would return with 3.5 grams of cocaine. King left with the money but never came back.


The incident occurred around 2pm Tuesday at 21st and Lehigh streets -- near . It was carried out by officials from the state attorney general’s office as part of an investigation into cocaine trafficking in Easton, court records say.

The records list King, who turns 27 on Saturday, with having no permanent address. But the records also include an address of the 2400 block of Birch Street in Wilson.

He was charged with criminal attempt to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility and theft by unlawful taking. The records say King is requested to pay back the $175, payable to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Office of the Attorney General.

He was arraigned Tuesday night by on-duty District Judge Robert Hawke of Lehigh Township and committed to after failing to post $25,000 bail.
