Former Wilson Clerk Gets Prison Time For $153,000 Theft
Lisa Guth will spend 15-30 months in state prison for stealing from the Wilson sewer fund.
Wilson's former borough clerk could spend the next few years in state prison for stealing more than $153,000 from the community sewer fund.
Lisa Marie Guth was sentenced to spend 15-30 months in state prison Friday in Northampton County Court, according to WFMZ.
Police say Guth, 49, of Williams Township admitted during an interview to taking money that residents had paid to the borough. She pleaded guilty in October to a felony theft charge.
Court records say Guth deposited the money, which came in the form of cash payments, in her own accounts, and used it for everyday purchases. Police had begun investigating when a resident noticed a discrepancy with a bill.
Guth was charged in July with stealing $2,600, but that number ballooned following an audit of borough finances.
That audit cost $13,000, which Guth will have to pay back as well, the Morning Call reported.
