'Exposing Easton' Facebook Page Creator Sent to Prison

Peter Murphy will spend time in county jail for burglary and harassment.

A 20-year-old Newark, N.J., man who created a Facebook page claiming to chronicle the sex lives of young Easton women is headed to prison, according to published reports.

Peter Murphy, a former Easton resident, pleaded guilty in September to harassment for setting up the page, called "Exposing Easton Hoes." He also pleaded guilty to burglary in a second case, in which he drunkenly wandered into a South Side home, claiming he thought it was his mother's house.

Both charges will land Murphy in Northampton County Prison for nine to 23 months, according to the Morning Call.

The Facebook investigation began in March, when a woman from Easton contacted police about the page, concerned that it was a form of cyber-bullying and could cause the young women featured to harm themselves.

"Exposing Easton" was up for just a few days, but gathered 1,500 fans before Facebook took it down for violating its rules. It caught the attention of police and Easton Area School District officials, since some of the young women featured were apparently Easton students.

Det. Christopher Miller was able to trace the IP address that set up the page to an account owned by Murphy's mother, court records say.

Murphy admitted to setting up the page out of "spite and revenge," police said.

After being charged in May, Murphy seemed to express some remorse in court, telling police ""After this, you'll never hear from me again."

He also expressed remorse for the burglary, the Express-Times reported. And Judge Leonard Zito acknowledged that Murphy didn't belong in state prison, saying the young man had simply "made some goofy mistakes."
