Shaniese Stokes, 24, accused of trying to hide gun from city police.

Easton police say a West Ward woman tried to hide a revolver from officers who were in her neighborhood responding to a fight.

Shaniese Stokes, 24, of 819 Ferry St., is charged with tampering with evidence, resisting arrest, and an illegal gun charge.

According to police, officers were on the 900 block of Ferry Street early Saturday to respond to a fight. Police say officers saw Stokes take a silver revolver from a man in the crowd and then throw it under a truck.

As police were trying to detain Stokes, she allegedly kicked the gun farther under the truck, while also struggling and trying to avoid being handcuffed.

The man who handed the gun to Stokes got away, police said. Stokes was in Northampton County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
