Easton Police: Son Beaten For Defending Mom

Anthony M. Slack charged with assaulting girlfriend's son during argument.

An Easton woman’s son stood up for his mother when she and her boyfriend argued early on the morning of Dec. 8.

The son, whose age is not specified in court records, told police he tried to defend his mother because the boyfriend was drunk and was “abusive” toward her.

The result? The boyfriend called the son a “p----,” grabbed him, took him to the floor and punched him several times.

And when the mother intervened, the boyfriend grabbed her by the neck, the records say.

The boyfriend, Anthony M. Slack, 57, of downtown Easton was charged with simple assault and harassment by physical contact.

According to a criminal complaint filed by city Patrolman Jose Colon, the incident occurred around 5:40am Dec. 8 – a Saturday – on the 200 block of W. Nesquehoning Street on Easton’s South Side.

The complaint also said:

The mother told police she and Slack had an argument and at one point he said he was about to harm her son. Slack and the son then argued.

She said Slack took her son to the floor and punched him several times. Slack grabbed her by the neck when she tried to separate them.

An arrest warrant for Slack was approved later on Dec. 8. He was taken into custody Sunday (Dec. 16)and arraigned by on-duty District Judge Jackie Taschner of Palmer Township.

Slack, of the 400 block of Northampton Street, was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
