Easton Police: Man Had $16K in Stolen Items
Police say a man known as "Gator" had $16,000 worth of stolen computers, haircutting equipment and electronics.
Easton police have taken a man known as “Gator” into custody, nearly seven months after they found around $16,000 in stolen computers, haircutting equipment and electronics inside his downtown apartment and in a rear storage area.
Court records say the items linked to Gator – his given name is Harold J. Buskirk III, 34 -- were stolen from five people. The computer items carry the names Toshiba, Dell and Apple. Other items include a Vizio television, CDs and DVDs, a purse and the haircutting equipment.
Police found the items on March 19, after serving a search warrant for Buskirk’s apartment at 115 Northampton St. and the rear storage area. An arrest warrant for Buskirk – filed Aug. 23 by city Det. Matthew Rush – was approved the same day by District Judge Gay Elwell.
Buskirk was taken into custody Thursday and arraigned Thursday night by on-duty District Judge Todd Strohe of Bangor. He was charged with receiving stolen property, a third-degree felony, and committed to Northampton County Prison after failing to post $15,000 bail.
A criminal complaint filed by Rush does not say how police learned the suspected stolen items were at Buskirk’s apartment and in the storage area, although it does say the items previously were reported stolen. It lists the five alleged theft victims but does not provide their addresses.
The complaint says the largest number of items – valued at $12,380 -- was stolen from a man. The items include the following computers: a Toshiba laptop, a Dell 1600, a Dell 1800, an Apple imac and three Dell optiplexes. Other items include the Vizio television, Seagate and Nexstar external hard drives, two PNY memory cards and a 19-inch flat-screen monitor (no brand listed).
The complaint says Buskirk had a Dell laptop valued at $1,200 belonging to a woman; a purse valued at $30 with “multiple cards” belonging to another woman; multiple CDs, DVDs and portfolios valued at $550 belonging to a man, and multiple pieces of haircutting equipment valued at $1,720 belonging to another person.
The total value of the items comes to $15,880.
