Easton Man Wanted for Maryland Rape

Court records say Jeremy Wayne Snyder is accused of raping 17-year-old girl in Ocean City last month.

An Easton man is awaiting extradition to Maryland in connection with an Ocean City rape case.

According to court records, Jeremy Wayne Snyder, 22, of 26 N. 11th St. was arrested Friday night after authorities in Northampton County were contacted by Maryland police. He was being held in .

Police in Ocean City say Snyder was with friends in the seashore community on May 6 when they met two girls, ages 18 and 17, at an under-21 nightclub. The girls went with Snyder and his friends to their hotel.

Police say the 17-year-old girl drank with Snyder, and woke up to find him on top of her. A witness said they heard the girl tell Snyder "no." An examination later found evidence the girl - who told police she'd been a virgin until this point -- had been raped.

Court records say Snyder admitted to having sex with the girl, but said it was consensual. He is being charged with rape in the second degree.

I am a veteran school administrator in the New Jersey public schools and I have three young childrenRead More in the district. I am frightened and worried about our schools. What would it take for the PADOE to take over the district? Electing new board members is not enough. We need help from the state as soon as possible. The district needs to be stabilized and then everything from soup to nuts must be assessed by an outside educational entity. Our children deserve much better!
