Easton Man Gets Prison Time For Selling Stolen Gun

Daniel Matlock Jr. had pleaded guilty to giving stolen gun and cash to a drug dealer.

Daniel Matlock Jr. began 2013 as the victim of a crime, but he's ending the year as a criminal.

Matlock—who was shot in Wilson during a robbery in January—was sentenced to prison Friday for stealing a gun and giving it to a drug dealer.

Court records show Northampton County Judge Paula Roscioli sentenced Matlock, 28, to 18 months to five years in prison for theft. He had pleaded guilty earlier this year.

According to police, the case began in February, when Brandon Groff, of the 700 block of Wolf Avenue, reported being robbed.

Police say Matlock had been staying with Groff and had stolen $600 in cash, and as well as a handgun worth $600. Matlock had allegedly "picked open" Groff's safe with an eyeglass screwdriver.

Groff told police that Matlock admitted to him that he had stolen the cash and the gun to pay a drug debt to a dealer named "E."

A warrant was issued for Matlock's arrest in February, and taken into custody and charged in July.
