'Crystal Substance' Shows Up at Easton PD

Police say substance mailed to local church pastor was not hazardous.

Easton police are investigating a suspicious envelope mailed to the pastor of a city church.

Police say the pastor brought the envelope, containing a "crystal substance," to police headquarters on South Third Street Wednesday afternoon. 

According to police, officers put the letter and the envelope into a plastic container and got it out of the building to the department's section of the downtown parking garage and called he Easton Fire Department and Lehigh County Hazardous Materials Unit.

By 3:30 p.m., the hazardous materials unit was able to conclude the substance in the envelope was not hazardous. Police are continuing to investigate.
