Canal Path Sexual Assault Didn't Happen, Police Say

Investigators say woman who reported being sexually assaulted Saturday gave false report.

A 30-year-old woman who reported being sexually assaulted Saturday on the Lehigh River canal towpath in Southside Easton concocted the incident, police investigators say.

According to an article on Lehigh Valley Live, police spotted inconsistencies in the woman's story as early as Saturday night, but gave the report the benefit of the doubt due to the possibility trauma was responsible for them. However, further investigation has convinced police the event didn't happen as described.

Police say the unidentified woman lied “for personal reasons” but gave no further explanation.
