A Whitehall man who robbed a bank on Easton's South Side will spend the next 16 years in prison, a federal judge ruled Thursday.

John Markeith Webb, 36, was convicted last year in federal court of robbing the on Line Street. Judge  Joel H. Slomsky gave Webb a sentence of 199 months in prison, the maximum allowed by law.

At one point, his mask fell down, and one of the tellers recognized Webb as the grandson of one of their customers. Prosecutors say Webb pointed the gun at the tellers, and at a customer -- described in the release as a 60-year-old disabled man -- who told him to leave the tellers alone.

In addition to the prison term, Webb must pay $4,665 in restitution, and spend five years on supervised release after serving his sentence.
