Attempted Armed Robbery Reported in Wilson

Wilson police say gunman tried to rob man on Northampton Street early Sunday.

Wilson police say a borough man was the victim of an attempted mugging early Sunday morning on Northampton Street.

Police say the man was walking from Shruty's Pub in the 1800 block of Northampton Street when he saw a dark-colored car with four men drive past him, then turn around on North 19th Street and drive toward him again.

Police say one of the men got out of the car as the victim got to his apartment. The robber aimed a gun at him and demanded he get on the ground.

The robber went through the man's pockets, but didn't take anything. The robber left the victim uninjured, the police said, and went back to the car. 

Police say the gunman was a black male in his mid 20’s. He was apparently six feet tall with a thin build.He had long dreadlocks and was wearing a baseball hat.
