DA to Discuss Williams Township Death

Family members tell newspaper Michael Muretta's death was a suicide.

A Williams Township man whose death was deemed suspicious by police last year committed suicide, said members of his family.

That's according to the Morning Call, which spoke relatives of Michael Muretta Thursday morning, a few hours before the Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli was due to hold a press conference to discuss the case.

Muretta, 47, was found severely injured inside his Morgan Hill Road home in August. He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. At the time, police ruled his death "suspicious."

Authorities said wounds to Muretta's body were consistent with a hammer. Investigators seized several tools from the home after his death.

Morganelli's news conference is scheduled for 2 p.m. at his office at the Northampton County government center.
