Accused Square One Robber Waives Hearing

Jesse James Kelly heads to Northampton County Court on charges he robbed gas station with air gun.

The case against an Easton man accused of robbing his former employer with a CO2 pistol is headed to Northampton County Court.

Jesse James Kelly, 20, of the 100 block of Lachenour Avenue, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Monday before District Judge Gay Elwell. 

According to police, Kelly used a CO2 pistol to hold up the Square One Exxon at 158 S. Third St. around 1:41 a.m. July 22, getting away with cigarettes and an unknown amount of cash.

Kelly was picked up by police a little while later near the Free Bridge, with the pistol and the stolen items.

He was charged with robbery, theft, receiving stolen property, and possession of instruments of crime.

Kelly's attorney, Mark Minotti, told the judge he hopes to find a resolution to the case prior to his client's arraignment Jan. 10.
