Shirley B. Dutt, 81: 'A Beam of Sunshine'

Shirley Lorraine Beck Dutt, 81, of Easton, passed peacefully into her eternal home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, January 5, 2014 in Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest.

A daughter of the late Stewart and Lottie Beck, she was born and raised in Wallenpaupack Village, Hawley, PA. She graduated with high honors from Moravian College in 1954 and has lived in Easton since then.

Known to her family as Emmy and Mazdie, Shirley was love personified. She had an endless supply of smiles, hugs, love and encouragement for everyone she met. A loving and devoted wife and mother, a beam of sunshine and a devout Christian, she brightened the world and will be sorely missed.

Shirley was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Bethlehem for 60 years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years: Karl; daughters: Janna and Lisa, son: Andrew; brother: Warren Beck and four grandsons: Karl, Joey, Theo and Ian. She was predeceased by her brothers: Merrill, Theodore, Franklin, Elbert, Blaine and Richard Beck.

She was laid to rest in a private family service at Easton Cemetery. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton handled the arrangements. A Celebration of Life Service is being planned for a date to be announced.
