Mary Diehl, 69, Active in Church, Fire Company

Mary Diehl, 69, of Williams Township died Sunday at St. Luke's Hospital-Anderson Campus.

Mary Diehl, 69, of Williams Township, PA, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014 in St. Luke’s Hospital-Anderson Campus.

Born November 25, 1944, in Bethlehem, PA, she was a daughter of the late Delbert K., Sr. and Bessie V. Krauss Lander.

She and her husband, Russell J. “Chub” Diehl, celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on July 6, 2013.

Mary retired as a sewing machine operator in 1987 from the former Rex Clothing, Hellertown. Previously, she was employed by the former Strongwear Pants Factory for many years.

She attended Easton Area High School.

Mary enjoyed arts and craft, crocheting, knitting and bingo.

She was an active member of St. John’s Church on Morgan Hill and the Williams Township Fire Company #1 Auxiliary.

In addition to her husband, Russell “Chub”, she is survived by two brothers, Thomas Lander, Sr. and his wife Susan, of Afton, NY and Charles Lander and his wife Robin, of Wilson Borough; three sisters, Carol Hollmann and her huband Fred, of Palisades Park, NJ, Barbara J. Handwerk, and Kathryn Sigafoos and her husband David, all of Palmer Township; and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by two brothers, Delbert K. Jr. and William J. Lander; a sister, Sandra L. Simonetta and a step-brother, Robert Erceg.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton Street, Wilson Borough.  Call Wednesday 6-8pm in the funeral home.  Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.  Offer on-line condolences at www.strunkfh.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Williams Township Fire Company, 2500 Morgan Hill Road, Easton, PA 18042.
