Edward Derr, 83, Navy Veteran and Fleas Club Member

Edward Derr, 83, of Forks Township, died Thursday at home.

Edward H. Derr, 83, of Forks Township, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013 at his home.

Born January 14, 1930, in Easton, he was a son of the late Edward S. and Margaret E. Kent Derr.

He and his wife, the former Eva Marsteller, would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on January 28, 2014. Ed was retired from Follett Corporation, where he worked for 36 years.

He graduated from Easton High School Class of 1948. 

He served with the US Navy during the Korean War as a machinist mate third class aboard the USS Missouri and the USS Roanoke where he was a plank owner.

Ed enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid Eagles fan.

He was a life member of Order of Fleas.

In addition to his wife, Eva, he is survived by a son, Edward H. Derr II, of Forks Township; a daughter, Pamela Wright and her husband William, of Whitehall and two grandchildren, Lucas and Spencer Derr.  He was predeceased by a brother, Walter S. Derr and a sister, June Marie Derr.

 Services will be held 1:30pm Monday in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton Street, Wilson.  Call Monday 12:30-1:30 p.m in the funeral home.  Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.  Offer on-line condolences at www.strunkfh.com.
