Celebrate Martin Luther King in Easton

Martin Luther King events planned at Greater Shiloh Church, Easton Area Community Center.

Monday is Martin Luther King Day, and as always, the Greater Shiloh Church will hold its annual celebration day.

The service starts at 5 p.m. at the church's main building, at 403 Pastor Fred Davis St. on the South Side of Easton.

The event typically includes music, dance and spoken word performances, as well as speeches by local religious and political leaders.

Also Monday, the Easton Area Community Center will hold its second annual “Paying It Forward Day”, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Kids from the center will work with students from the The PACT (Pan African Caucus Togetherness) group at Northampton Community College on a variety of projects and activities: arts & crafts, storytelling, a panel discussion, a performance by NCC drama and dance students, and packaging gifts of toys and books for children in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

Monday is a holiday for Easton area students. Northampton County offices (which includes Easton's three district courts) are also closed.
