West Ward Voters Pick Jim Edinger
Former Easton Zoning Hearing Board chair elected to full term on City Council.
It looks like Jim Edinger's temporary seat on Easton City Council has become a little more permanent.
Voters in the city's West Ward have picked Edinger—who was appointed to council in July—to a full four-year term.
Unofficial results Tuesday evening showed the Democratic former zoning board chairman ahead of Republican challenger Kim Yedlosky 345 to 135.
Edinger was named to council this summer after former councilman Mike Fleck stepped down in order to spend more time with his family and his consulting firm.
Fleck had initially said he wasn't going to seek re-election, but planned to serve out the rest of the term.
But then his move to Allentown happened sooner than expected, and Fleck ended up leaving office in July. Edinger and West Ward resident Stephen White both applied for the post, and council chose Edinger.
Yedlosky, a corrections officer and first-time candidate, had campaigned on a platform of lowering crime and increasing home ownership in the West Ward.
Elsewhere in the city, City Council members Roger Ruggles and Sandra Vulcano each won re-election, running without opposition. This will be Vulcano's fourth term on council, and Ruggles' second full-term.
Antonia Grifo became the city's newest district judge, running unopposed after defeating four other candidates in May's primary. She'll replace District Judge Gay Elwell, who died last year.
Easton's other district judge, Daniel Corpora, was also unopposed.
And the Easton Area School Board gained four new members. South Side Easton residents Michelle Price and Robert Obey, Martins Creek resident Dominic Buscemi and Matt Monahon of College Hill had all won the four open seats in the primary and ran Tuesday without opposition.
