Easton School Board Cuts 43 Jobs

The Easton Area School Board has approved cutting 43 district jobs in order to balace the 2013-2014 budget.

About half those cuts will happen through attrition, district officials said after Tuesday night's board meeting. But the cuts also means that seven workers will lose their jobs, while another 11 will be suspended.

Easton Superintendent Becomes Assistant Principal


Susan McGinley's days as the Easton Area School District's superintendent may be coming to a close, but that doesn't mean she's leaving the district.

An "administrative reorganization plan" approved by the school board Tuesday night moves McGinley—whose term as superintendent ends June 30—into a new job. Under the plan, McGinley becomes an assistant principal at the Easton Area Middle School. 

Occupy Protestor 'Nature Dave' Wants a Trial

Dave Gorczynski, the Occupy Easton protester known to friends as "Nature Dave," wants his day in court.

Last year, Gorczynski was arrested after police say he brought a sign bearing the slogan "You're being robbed" into two downtown Easton banks. On Thursday, he decided he'd rather go to trial on terroristic threat charges than join the first time offenders program.

Wilson Clerk Stole From Sewer Fund, Police Say


Wilson police say the borough's clerk is under investigation for allegedly stealing money from the community's sewer fund. Criminal charges are pending against 48-year-old Lisa Guth, police said Thursday.
