Incumbents Lose School Board Seats

After 12 years, Pat Vulcano Jr.'s time with the Easton Area School Board seems to be at an end. Voters on Tuesday chose two newcomers over Vulcano in the three-way race for two seats in the board's Region II. Meanwhile, Robert Moskaitis, who was appointed to the board two years ago, lost his seat to two other first-time candidates in Region III.

Antonia Grifo is Easton's New District Judge

Antonia Grifo is set to become Easton's new district judge. The downtown Easton attorney came in first place on both the Democratic and Republican tickets late Tuesday night, according to unofficial results. With the nominations of both parties in the primary, Grifo is essentially guaranteed a win in this fall's general election.

Christmas Eve Beating Death Headed to Trial

A man accused in a deadly beating last Christmas Eve in Easton is headed for trial, according to published reports. Antonio Ortiz, 33, of the 400 block of Northampton St., is charged with criminal homicide in the death of Andres Ruiz-Avelizapa. Police say a fight between the two men on Northampton Street last December 24 led to Ruiz-Avelizapa being knocked out. He never regained consciouness, and died in January.

Crayola Reopens After Three-Month Renovation

Easton's Crayola Experience reopened Friday after a three-month renovation. The newly revamped building features 21 new attractions.

Easton Man Charged in $4 Million Connecticut Jewel Heist

An Easton man is one of five people accused of kidnapping two people in Connecticut last month and getting them to help them steal millions in goods from a nearby jewelry store. Kasam Hennix, 39, along with three Allentown men and one man from the Bronx, were all charged by federal authorities Thursday, according to the U.S. Attorney and Fairfield Patch.
