Police: Easton Man Had 61 Packets of Heroin

Easton police charge Malcolm Hearns with drug offenses.

An Easton man who told police he is unemployed is charged with possessing 61 packets of heroin and a small amount of marijuana, according to court records.

The police action occurred at 4:25am Sunday at the residence of Malcolm Hearns, 26, of  201 N. Eighth St., Apt./Suite 1.

Police found the 61 packets of heroin in a plastic bag that also contained $146.77. The suspect had $180 on him, the records say.

The small amount of marijuana was on top of a CD case. Police also found a metal grinder that had a yin-yang painted on top and contained marijuana, the records say.

The records do not say what events led to police arriving at Hearns’ residence, and they don’t give a value of the heroin seized.

Hearns was arraigned later Sunday by on-duty District Judge Adrianne Masut of Wind Gap on charges of possession of a controlled substance (heroin), possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession or distribution of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to after failing to post 10 percent of $25,000 bail.
