Flash Flood Watch Issued for Area

Heavy thunderstorms combined with already saturated ground create a potential risk.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for most of our area today with a forecast of heavy rain and thunderstorms for much of the day.

Showers and thunderstorms, associated with a “strong cold front” moving into the area on Thursday has the potential to produce an inch or more of rain, according to the weather service watch.

“The ground is saturated and any heavy downpours in a short period of time could lead to areas of flash flooding,” according to the watch, which will remain in effect into the evening.
