Celebrate the End of a Summer of Reading

The Library’s children and adult summer reading programs conclude this Friday, August 9.

All ages are welcome to attend the “Dig into Summer” Finale with a special performance by the Science Tellers, who are part Scientist and part Storyteller.  This 45 minute high-energy interactive program is a fun experience where science is taught with the story.

Their program “The Bugs of Blackwood (Matter)” focuses on Benjamin, who has a good life living on Blackwood Avenue. Most of his neighbors are friendly, he has a large extended family, and on most days you’ll find him working in his garden. However, all this is about to change when one day he is accidentally taken into the house. You see, Benjamin is a bug and now he must be rescued.

Join us as we learn about the science of matter by telling the tale of “The Bugs of Blackwood. “ By using experiments with fire, gas, air pressure, water, chemicals, and more, see if Benjamin’s friends can save him before all hope in squashed!

Performances are scheduled for 11:00 am at the Palmer Branch and 1:30 pm at the South Side Branch on Friday, August 9.  The Main Branch program will run from 3:00 to 5:00 pm and include a performance by the Science Tellers plus games, crafts, and an eating contest.
