Learn about QiGong at Free Library Program

Celebrating National Friends of the Library Week.

Internationally recognized teacher Rene Navarro will present a QiGong program from 7:00 to 8:30 pm on Tuesday, October 23, at the Main Library. People practice qigong for different reasons, including exercise, self-healing, meditation, and training for martial arts.

Qigong is an ancient healing Chinese art that was originally called Daoyin. Different temples and families developed their own versions over the years.  Rene will teach DragonWell Qigong, a series of movements done either standing or sitting. The movements are simple and easy to memorize.

This free program is open to the public and will be held in the Catherine Drake Room. The audience is welcome to participate.  Comfortable clothing is recommended.

The Friends is a growing group of public-spirited people and businesses who appreciate the Easton Library and what it brings to our community.

They contribute their time and money to support the Library and its programs. They collect, sort, set up, and sell books and media at the Library book sales. They buy supplies and fund performances for the Children’s Summer Reading Programs and pay fees to bring best-selling authors like Chris Bohjalian and Adriana Trigiani for adult programming. They fund restoration projects for the Marx Local History Room including the conservation and framing of the Penn Patent and the restoration of the Paxinosa Inn painting and the George Taylor portrait.

On Saturday, October 27, the Friends will have a fundraiser. They’ll be selling hot dogs and beverages from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Catherine Drake Room – or if weather permits, on the patio outside.

Come to our activities and learn more about the Friends. If you’ve been thinking about getting involved in volunteering and you love the Library, consider joining. They can probably find a job you’ll enjoy that uses your expertise and talents.  You’ll also meet some other nice book-lovers.
