Observe the 100th Anniversary of the Sinking of the Titantic

Sunday, April 15, marks the 100th anniversary of the Titanic’s sinking. The Palmer Branch is offering its patrons a chance to win books about the event in a raffle. Children can win a book titled 882 ½ Amazing Answers to Your Questions about the Titanic. Just stop in the Library, answer two easy questions, and enter your name. The winner will be announced on Friday, April 13. (Adults can enter to win a book titled Titanic: 100 Years Later.) The Spring I Storytimes Session runs from April 2 to April 27. Programs include Mother Goose Time for ages 6-24 months with an adult, Toddler Time for ages 2-3 years with an adult, Preschool Time for ages 4-5 years with an adult, and Family Storytime for ages 2-5 years with an adult. All storytimes are approximately 30 minutes in length. Registration is required.  Call 610-258-2917 ext 306 or visit the Library to sign up.

Make an Easter Bunny Topiary

Join the staff from the Posey Peddler to make a bunny topiary using white chrysanthemums on Tuesday, April 3, at 7:00 p.m. The class is open to everyone, but children under 9 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Celebrate National Library Week with the Children’s Poetry Troupe

The Children’s Poetry Troupe will recite familiar children’s poems at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, April 10, at the Palmer Branch. Members of the Troupe will be in costume and use props as they recite from memory short, humorous poems by authors like Shel Silverstein. This free program is open to the public. The Palmer Branch is located at 1 Weller Place.           

Join the Junior Friends of the Library

 Does your child love the Library? Ellen Heath (Miss Ellen), former Coordinator of Youth Services, has formed a Junior Friends of the Easton Area Public Library. Like its adult counterpart, the Jr. Friends will plan activities to help the Library while having fun.

The group is open to children ages 6 through 12 and meets to plan activities on the first Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. Pick up a membership form at the Children’s Room desk. Contact Miss Ellen at juniorfriends@yahoo.com if you have any questions.

 Come to an Author Visit and Storytime 

Author and illustrator Zachariah Ohora will be at the Library on Wednesday, April 25, at 10:30 a.m. for an interactive storytime. He’ll read his book Stop Snoring, Bernard, Pennsylvania’s “One Book, Every Young Child” 2012 selection. For children ages 3 and up and their families. Limit 40 families. Registration is required and begins Monday, April 2.

 It’s Happening at House Party

Learn dance steps, enjoy books, arts and crafts, and messy science experiments, and do lots of fun activities with Miss Kaitlyn in a casual atmosphere. House Party meets from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, and April 26. Registration is required. Call 610-258-2917 ext 306 or visit the Library to sign up.

 Come to Cocoa Club

Children in grades 3 and up are invited to Cocoa Club on Wednesday, April 18, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm. Bring a favorite book to talk about, hear about some other great books from Miss Katie, and enjoy a cup of cocoa. Feel free to bring your favorite mug! Registration is required.  Have a Healthy Kids Day at the Y

Take the whole family to this all ages event at the Family YMCA on Saturday, April 28, from noon to 4:00 pm. Take your toddler to visit Outreach Librarian Kuldeep Kaur in the Child Watch room to play with some of our Family Place toys. No registration required.
