South Side Rite Aid Will Close

Store was "underperforming," spokeswoman said. CVS will take over prescriptions.

The Rite Aid on Easton's South Side will close later this week.

The Express-Times reports that the pharmacy chain will shutter its Line Street location on Thursday because the business had underperformed.

"It just no longer makes sense to operate at that location," Rite Aid spokeswoman Ashley Flower told the paper.

She said customers who have prescriptions at that Rite Aid will be able to have them filled at the nearby .

Easton has another Rite Aid within the city limits, on the 900 block of Northampton Street.

The news comes a few days after a Wall Street analyst speculated that Walgreen could buy Rite Aid.
