Easton Cash Mob Visits iMiJ Shop

Northampton Street boutique gets a boost from monthly cash mob.

Downtown doesn't have the type of stores where people line up on the morning after Thanksgiving.

But for The iMiJ Shop on Northampton Street, yesterday was sort of like a mini-Black Friday, one week early.

The gallery/boutique/photo studio found itself hosting Easton's eighth "cash mob" Friday afternoon.

Every month, the Easton Main Street Initiative organizes the cash mob to help boost a Downtown business. The group meets in Centre Square, and then heads to that store with the goal of spending at least $20.

The visits are unannounced, and iMiJ Shop co-owner Mike Cabreza said he was surprised to find a group of 10 people -- some holding balloons and "Cash Mob" placards -- squeeze through his doors.

It was good timing too, he added. The scaffolding that had covered the front of his shop -- and all the others inside the Grand Eastonian -- had just come down.

"It's almost like a reopening for us," Cabreza said.
