Tony Winning 'Dreamgirls' Coming to Easton

Musical inspired by The Supremes will have one-night run at State Theatre.

Dreamgirls, the Tony winning Broadway musical that inspired a popular, Oscar-winning movie, will play for one night next month at Easton's State Theatre.

The play, which tells the story of a Supremes-like 1960s pop group called The Dreams, goes on stage May 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Dreamgirls premiered on Broadway in 1981. In 2006, it was turned into a film  starring Beyonce Knowles, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy.
