State Theatre's Nutcracker Seeks Young Dancers

The Moscow Ballet will bring the Great Russian Nutcracker to the State Theatre in December, and it wants help from local child dancers.

The ballet wants to fill 50 different roles, and will hold open auditions for dancers ages 7 to 16 at the theater on Sept. 21. 

Applicants need to have at least a year of ballet training, dress in dance attire, and can bring pointe shoes if they want. Students must be available for weekly rehearsals.

There's a $40 fee, payable on the day of the audition. The Nutcracker is scheduled for two performances Dec. 14.
