See Historic Houses This Week in Easton

33rd annual tour of historic city homes is just one part of a busy weekend in Easton.

Since 1978, the Historic Easton House Tour has given people a chance to take a self-guided journey into the city's past.

"The tour has now become a tradition in our town along with the Easton/Phillipsburg and Lafayette/Lehigh football games, the Peace Candle, and the Farmers' Market," writes organizer Nancy Sekinsky.

The tour returns this Saturday at 10 a.m. at Riverside Park, taking participants to 10 properties in Downtown, College Hill and the West Ward. The tour lasts until 4 p.m.

Not all the buildings are homes. One of the stops is the Two Rivers Brewing Company—which began as a rental property in 1847 before becoming the Mount Vernon Hotel in 1850.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 the day of the tour. You can buy them online at the Easton Main Street Initative website, which also lists several local merchants selling tickets, including Ellen Recchia's Salon, and Giacomo's Market.
