Jazz Legend Wayne Shorter to Play at Lafayette

Wayne Shorter will perform with college's Orpheus Chamber Orchestra Jan. 30.

Renowned jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter will team up with Lafayette College's Orpheus Chamber Orchestra for a concert next week.

Shorter's quartet will join the orchestra at a show Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 8 p.m. at the school's Williams Center for the Performing Arts.

The concert will include pieces by Beethoven and Charles Ives by Orpheus, followed by Shorter revisiting his Grammy Winning Alegria. His quartet includes pianist Danilo Perez, Brian Blade on drums and bassist John Patitucci.

Tickets for the performance are $33 and can be purchased by calling the box office at (610) 330-5009 on weekdays from noon to 2 p.m., 4 to 5 p.m. and one hour before the show. 

Before the show, Lafayette music professors will discuss the program in Room 108 of the center.
