Has This Magician Peeked Into Easton's Future?

David Caserta makes predictions for the headlines on the day of his State Theatre show in October.

In the kiosk outside the State Theatre, there's a box. Inside the box is a CD. And on that CD are the day's headlines for Oct. 27, 2013.

At least that's what magician David Caserta hopes.

Caserta will perform at the theater that night, and plans to open his Haunted Illusions show by playing the contents of the CD: his predictions for that day's headlines, the number of tickets sold for that day, and "a few surprises."

"I'm not claiming to be a psychic or anything," he said Thursday morning, soon after he locked the CD inside the box, where it will stay until showtime. "I just had some thoughts about what the headlines might be."

This is a first for Caserta's act, although he said he's been known to make predictions about audience members at other shows.

His appearance at the State Theatre on Thursday coincided with the opening of season ticket sales for theater members at the box office.

About 200 people were expected to buy tickets in person Thursday morning. The early morning line stretched up Northampton Street to the entrance of the theater's back parking lot at Fifth and Church streets, said Jamie Balliet, the State's senior vice president of marketing.
