Israel’s first astronaut, Ilan Ramon, and six others perished on February 1, 2003 when the Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated upon reentry. The son of an Auschwitz survivor, Ramon felt a deep sense of obligation to Holocaust memory and witness. Among the objects he took into outer space was a miniature Torah that survived the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. This documentary features poignant interviews and inspiring accounts of the Columbia mission. The film will be followed by a reception. Co-sponsored with the JCC of Allentown’s Jewish & Israeli Film Festival.
