Christmas Carol, Nutcracker, Coming to State Theatre

Two classic Christmas shows heading to the State Theatre in December.

Two classic Christmas stories will take the stage at the State Theatre next month.

First up is A Christmas Carol, with the Nebraska Theatre Caravan bringing a musical version of Charles Dickens' story to town on Thursday, Dec. 12.

"This celebrated adaptation by Charles Jones of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is rich with thrilling ensemble music, alive with color and movement and is created to tell this great and enduring tale in a manner that people of all ages will enjoy," the theater said in a news release. "Featuring a cast of 24 performers, live musicians, and Broadway-style scenery and costumes, audiences will cherish this annual holiday classic."

Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $35-40 for adults, and $20 for kids 10 and under. You can get tickets at the theater box office, by calling 1-800-999-STATE, 610-252-3132 or online at www.statetheatre.org.

Two days after Scrooge's visit, the Moscow Ballet’s The Great Russian Nutcracker makes its yearly visit to the theater, with shows at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14.

"Tinkering with 150-year-old Nutcracker tradition, Moscow Ballet takes the show to new heights incorporating props, costumes, and a new level of dramatic depth," the theater said. "Exclusive to Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker, the show adds a tribute to world peace, the 'Dove of Peace,' for which 2 dancers become one bird with a 20 foot wingspan."

Tickets are $38-43, and $33 for children 10 and under, and can be purchased at the theater box office, by calling 1-800-999-STATE, 610-252-3132 or online at www.statetheatre.org.
