Brrrr! Polar Plunge Returns to Easton This Week

Second annual plunge into Delaware River comes back to Scott Park Saturday

Next Saturday will be sunny in Easton, with a high of around 30 degrees.

Not exactly swimming weather, but for several brave souls, it will be "plunging weather," as the Lehigh Valley Polar Plunge returns to the Delaware River for it second year.

Last year, the plunge raised more than $100,000, with more than 600 people taking a quick dip in the river at the city's Scott Park.

This year, there's a new twist to the plunge, the so-called "Super Plunge."

As the organization explains on its website:

"For the 24 hours leading up to the Lehigh Valley Polar Plunge, an elite group of plungers called 'Super Plungers' will take a chilly dip every hour into a pool of icy water (yes, 24 plunges!)"

The plunge itself happens at noon Saturday, with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m., followed by a costume contest.
