Weekend Storm Will Be Worse Than Predicted

The Lehigh Valley could see up to 9 inches of snow.

The winter storm heading toward the Lehigh Valley will be worse than we thought.

The area, which is under a Winter Storm Watch, could get up to 9 inches of snow, the National Weather Service said. A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulation that may impact travel, the NWS said.

The snow will start heavy Saturday morning, the NWS said, and will continue through to Sunday morning.

In addition to the snow, about 0.5 inches of ice has been predicted for the area.

Temperatures in the 20s are expected. Because of the amount of snow and ice, travel conditions could be hazardous.
