Safe Harbor Regatta Returns Saturday

Annual tiny boat race on the Bushkill benefits Safe Harbor Shelter in Easton.

The Bushkill Creek isn't the first place you'd think of to host a boat race.

But the boats in this case are small toy sailboats. And they'll race down the creek for the Safe Harbor Regatta, which returns tomorrow afternoon after a one-year hiatus.

"The Regatta is Safe Harbor Easton’s largest fundraiser of the year and benefits the emergency homeless shelter, the daytime meal program and the Recovery Center for men and women recovering from addiction," the shelter said in a news release.

The race begins at Penn Pump Park in Palmer Township at 1 p.m., following a picnic lunch at noon.
