The man who found actor Philip Seymour Hoffman's body on Sunday was local playwright David Bar Katz, multiple media sources are reporting.

A Wall Street Journal reporter Tweeted that Hoffman and Katz had been collaborating on a project at the time of Hoffman's death.

Katz, who now lives in New York City, was born in Philadelphia and attended Chestnut Hill Academy, according to his Wikipedia page.

Academy Award-winner Hoffman, who was 46, died of an apparent heroin overdose. He had reportedly been to rehab multiple times.

"I really thought this chapter was over," Katz told The New York Times about Hoffman's drug use.

Hoffman is survived by partner Mimi O'Donnell and their three children, The Huffington Post said.
