The Starlight Players, story time and a corn maze are just some of things to do this week with kids

Welcome to the Grab and Go Kids Planner.

We’ve assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children.

Each week, we’ll give you the info on the best family activities or events for the week.

You’re time-pressed enough, so we’re happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Look for the kids planner each Wednesday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips-just add them to the comment box.  Even if you disagree with our picks, let us know. We want to hear from you!

1.     Starlight Players to appear at “The Square”

 

Where/When:  sw quadrant, Thursday August 28 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. weather permitting.

Why Go:  The Starlight Players entertain audiences in a variety of ways, including magic, balloon sculpting, face painting and more.

Price:  Free and open to the Public

 

2.       Tales for Tots

Where/When:  Mary Meuser Memorial Library.  Thursday and Friday mornings at 10:30 a.m.

Why Go:  Toddlers to pre-schoolers are welcome to come and participate in storytime, which includes, a story, music and a craft.

Price: Free and Open to the Public

 

3.  “Drums on Fire” Community Drum Circle

Where/When:  Riverview Arts Center, 68 South Main Street Phillipsburg NJ.  Friday August 26, from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Why Go:  Everyone is invited from age 10 and up.  Bring the whole family. If you have hand drum, or any percussion instrument (tambourine, shakers, claves, etc.) or just about anything that can make music when played: a coffee can or even a 5 gallon bucket, bring it!  There will be a few instruments available to borrow if you have nothing.  For more information contact phillipsburg.drumsonfire@gmail.com .

Price:  Free and Open to the Public

 

4.        Boscovs Supports Easton Area Public Libray

Where/When: Boscovs, Saturday August 27, from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Why Go: There will be childrens’ activities throughout the store, a bake sale and hot dog sale. Proceeds from the hot dog and bake sale will benefit the .  Help support the library by attending this event.

 

5.        The Area’s Only Thomas the Train Corn Maze

Where/When:  The Delaware River Railroad Excursion.  99 Elizabeth Street, Phillipsburg NJ  Saturdays 11:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m. 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Sundays 11:00 a.m, 12:30 p.m., and 2:00 p.m.

Why Go: Take a scenic train ride along the Delaware River. Kids can get off the train and explore the world’s only Thomas the Train corn maze.

Price:  Children  - $12.00 and Adults - $18.00
