A lot of great things to do with the kids this week

Welcome to the Grab and Go Kids Planner.

We’ve assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children.

Each week, we’ll give you the info on the best family activities or events for the week.

You’re time-pressed enough, so we’re happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Look for the kid’s planner each Wednesday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips-just add them to the comment box.  Even if you disagree with our picks, let us know. We want to hear from you!

1.        Uncle Pete to Perform at the “Square”

Where/When:  , (Southwest quadrant)  Easton, Thursday July 7, from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Why Go: Part of the Summer in the Square series “Uncle Pete” will entertain audiences with a variety of music and audience participation.

Price: Free and Open to the public

 

2.       “Drums on Fire” Community Drum Circle

Where/When:  Riverview Arts Center, 68 South Main Street Phillipsburg NJ.  Friday July 8 from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Why Go:  Everyone is invited from age 10 and up.  Bring the whole family. If you have hand drum, or any percussion instrument (tambourine, shakers, claves, etc.) or just about anything that can make music when played: a coffee can or even a 5 gallon bucket, bring it!  There will be a few instruments available to borrow if you have nothing.  For more information contact phillipsburg.drumsonfire@gmail.com .

3.        Civil War Road Show

Where/When: Pine Street, (behind ) July 8-10, from 12:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Grand Opening will take place at 7:00 p.m. on July 8 at Centre Square

Why Go:  This traveling museum rolls into town with re-enactors and artifacts, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the civil war.

Price:  Free and open to the public

 

 4.  Happy Birthday Easton Farmer's Market

Where/When:  , Saturday July 9, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.,

Why Go: Come and celebrate the birthday of the country's oldest open air market!  Have a slice of birthday cake, listen to live music, and there will be activities for the kids

 

 

5.       Heritage Day

Where/When: Centre Square. Sunday July 10, 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and at the Riverfront from 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Why Go:  Relive the past and celebrate Easton’s rich history. Take a horse drawn surrey ride, “Kiss a Pig”, see strolling clowns and magicians. Talk with civil war re-enactors, enjoy live music and great food. Listen to the reading of the Declaration of Independence.  There will be a moon bounce for the kids as well as crafts and more. Meet “Tip” and “Pip” from Crayola. A great fireworks display in the evening. So much to see and do, don’t miss it!

 

6.         Summer Acting Camp – The Spotlight is on You

Where/When: , July 11 – 22. Camp Recital on July 23. Morning session is 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and afternoon session is 1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Why Go:  Your child will learn and experience acting, music and dance on a daily basis.  He or she will learn valuable lessons and tips in all phases of theatre.

Price:  $235.00 (includes 2 tickets to July 23 recital)
