Fringe Festival Debuts in West Ward

Summer-long event kicks off with music, food and crafts.

For a few hours Saturday afternoon, part of 12th Street in the city's West Ward turned into a neighborhood blog party, as the Chansonette Theatre's Fringe Festival got under way.

There were crafts, music, wine, beer and food, all packed into a space between  Northampton and Spring Garden streets.

The festival will be a summer-long event, planned to run every Saturday until August 20. It's tied in with Lafayette College's Art of Urban Environments project, which also launches this weekend.
